CAPT AMARINDER TAKES SALUTE AT 71ST R-DAY CELEBRATION WITH VOW TO PROTECT SECULAR FOUNDATIONS OF CONSTITUTION

Captain Amarinder Singh on Sunday honoured 11 state police officers with the Chief Minister’s Police Medals in recognition of their outstanding performance and discharge of duty with utmost sincerity, dedication and commitment. As many as 43 prominent personalities were also honoured for their exemplary services in different fields.


DESERT LOCUST IN PUNJAB: NO IMMEDIATE THREAT BUT VIGILANCE NEEDED

Locusts are the short-horned grasshoppers with highly migratory habit, marked polymorphism and voracious feeding behavior. India has not witnessed any full blown locust cycles after 1962, however, during 1978 and 1993, large scale upsurges were observed. Localized locust breeding has also been reported and controlled during the period 1998, 2002, 2005, 2007 and 2010.
