Protection and perpetuation of cows can not be ensured in just keeping the cows within the four walls of Gaushalas. The right place for cows and cattle is the traditional cow sheds in the houses of farmers in the villages where these cattle should be kept properly. This was stated by Governor Himachal Pradesh Acharya Devvrat on the occasion of a function organized by Gaushala Sangh, Haryana in memory of Swami Mahesh Muni Maharaj at village Dand in Haryana today. He lauded efforts of Haryana in taking creditable decisions towards protection and perpetuation of cows and added that these efforts should be replicated by other States as well. He said efforts of Animal Husbandry Department and knowledge of farmers should be converged for proper upkeep  and care of animals especially cows. Governor said that the local breeds of cows are disappearing from every part of the world which is a matter of concern from genetic and environmental point of view. He asked farmers and the government to protect local breeds of cows in the country.
