The Himachal Utthan Manch (HUM) will launch a statewide campaign to make people of the state politically aware so that shrewd politicians could not fool people by their false promises.
This was stated by Deepak Sharma, president of the manch, while addressing a press conference . He said it was unfortunate that politicians had lost moral values and had been shirking from their responsibilities and accountability. The state that could generate sufficient funds from its own sources was reeling under a loan of over Rs 39,000 crore.
He said over 12 lakh youth in the state were being misled by all political parties in the state and nothing concrete had been done to generate sufficient employment so far. He said the formation of HUM was done to create political, developmental and social awareness by updating the people on the responsibilities of the government and how they fleece the people during the elections.
The core issues of debate in the state pertained to agriculture, horticulture, industrialisation and unemployment. He said the time had come to expose the nefarious designs of political leaders. Earlier, the manch held a meeting to decide the further course of action, which was attended by the delegates from eight districts — Shimla, Mandi, Kullu, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, Solan and Kangra.
