Northern giants Minerva Punjab will host the only I-League team from Goa, Churchill Brothers in their Round 6 encounter scheduled for February 1 at the Guru Nanak Stadium in Ludhiana. The Red Machines are placed 8th in the table with 4 points in their kitty from a surprising win against Bengaluru FC and a draw against DSK Shivajians, while going down fighting to Mohun Bagan, Mumbai FC & East Bengal. The visitors are highly relied on their Trinidad & Tobago veteran Anthony Wolfe, Kyrgyzstan International Bektur Talgat Uulu has been brought in to marshall the Red's attacking midfield. Quite a good mixture of young and experience forms the depth of the Goan team that got the nod to participate in the top flight in the 11th hour. the Red Machines would surely look to bag all three points and take a leap in the standings as the next couple of fixtures scheduled to be played in the north-eastern region against Shillong Lajong FC and Aizawl FC would be a tough nut to crack. Debutants Minerva Punjab FC are still in the hunt for their first victory in the top-flight, narrowly going down in a couple of matches to being punished for minor mistakes in their defence, The warriors has had it all due to their inexperience in their top-flight. but neverthless their never giv up attitude seems the Blues would still fight it all in their upcoming fixtures. Absence of their rocksolid custodian Ravi Kumar due to an ACL injury has surely been a big blow to the Chandigarh based team. they have recently added The likes of Salgaocar FC custodian Arnab Das Sharma and North Eastern sensational winger David Nghaite to their ranks.
The Blues will look keep their forgettable clash against East Bengal aside and will look for a fresh start when they host Churchill Brothers tomorrow with their complete focus in getting the bragging rights from the game.
