The Controller of Communication Accounts, Nodal office under Government of India, Ministry of Communications, Department of Telecommunications, New Delhi for Punjab Telecom Circle, organized a grand finale on the Closing Ceremony of the 6thAnnual Sports Meet, at Chandigarh Various sports competitions were held during the five day long sports meet, including Track and field events, outdoor events and indoor events. The competitions included, 100 meter Race, Long Jump, Shot-put Throw, Javelin Throw, Tug of War, Badminton, Table Tennis, Volley ball, Cricket, Carom, Chess and Musical Chair.
Smt. Sharon Shefali Gupta, Controller of Punjab and Haryana Telecom Circles, in her welcome address, informed that considering the request from other Central Government office in the Tri-City, it was decided to invite them also for the Sports Meet. The office received a good participation from the Central Bureau of Investigation, Chandigarh and Principal Controller of Defence Accounts, Chandigarh. Keeping in view the Women Empowerment, events were held both in men and women categories. She further informed that be it the Digital India Campaign, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, or contribution to the society by means of social service, the office is making all efforts in the Tri-city for its contribution. The office, this year invited the Children from the Society for the Blind, Chandigarh and honored them for their talent in the field of Music.
Smt. Sharon Shefali Gupta also informed that apart from attending to the regular duties, the office has been contributing to various projects of the Govt. of India, which include: launching “SMS Sewa” to facilitate its stake holders, like Pensioners, GPF Subscribers of the Department, disseminating information about the status of cases of employees and other stake holders, etc.; organizing Free Medical Health Check up camps in addition to the Pension Adalats for the Pensioners; launching Mobile Application, for online registration of grievances by the Pensioners and the GPF Subscribers, apart from the CPGRAMS on the internet website of the offices and organizing interactive Kiosk (Cyber café) Meets in various districts of Punjab, to bring the subsidy beneficiary - the BSNL, Representatives of State Govt. and the franchises on one platform.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest at the Event Shri Bhavnesh Saini, Judicial Member, Income Tax Appellate Tribunal, Chandigarh, congratulated all the participants from the various departments. He further said that in the present scenario of life there is a lot of stress and strain and therefore, sports should be inculcated not as a need but as a habit, if one wants to lead a healthy life. He congratulated the C.C.A. Smt. Sharon Shefali Gupta, for her determined efforts.
The Function was attended by the senior officers from under the Ministry of Communications and various other Central Government office in the Tri-city. Prizes were given to the winners in the various individual and team events held during the 6th Annual Sports Meet held from 30th Jan. to 3rd Feb., 2017.
