ATTROCITIES ON AGITATORS STUDENTS ON FEE HIKE: GOVERNOR AND UT ADMINISTRATOR ASSURED TO SEEK SOLUTION FROM CENTRE

The Vice Chancellor, PU has constituted a Committee to assist the PU Administration in identifying innocent students who could have got entrapped in the unfortunate circumstances at the protest in front of the VC Office on April 11, 2017. The Committee is to be Chaired by Prof. Ashwani Koul, Department of Biophysics, designated as Chief of University Security. Dean, Student Welfare Prof. Emanual Nahar shall be the Co-Chairperson of the said Committee. The Committee is enjoined to invite President, PUCSC and Vice President, PUCSC as Special Invitees to its deliberations. 

Hon’ble Governor of Punjab and Administrator, UT Chandigarh had invited Vice Chancellor, Panjab University to apprise him of the happenings on the PU Campus on April 11, 2017. He sought input on the steps which could be initiated to attend to the concerns of the students and the University. Senior officers of the Panjab University as well as those of the UT Administration participated in the meeting convened at Raj Bhawan on Friday, April 14, 2017.

The Committee shall hold its first meeting on Saturday, April 15, 2017. Hon’ble Governor has also desired that all issues relating to enhancement of the internal income of the University, including the Senate approved tuition fee hike, be reviewed in a holistic manner. The Vice Chancellor has been advised to provide feedback to the UT Administration at the earliest possible. The Administrator, UT has offered to help the University in seeking solution to its concern from the Central Government.
