OORJA CAPFs YOUTH U-19 FOOTBALL TALENT HUNT TOURNAMENT COMCLUDES

The “Oorja CAPFs Youth U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament (Boys & Girls)” held at Ashwini Stadium, BSF Campus, Jalandhar Cantt from 05th May to 14th May’ 2017. Total 16 teams (Boys; 08 & Girls;08) of various Clubs and Schools of Punjab State participated in this tournament.

Mr. R.S.Kataria, DIG BSF told that , the Tournament was declared “OPEN” by Shri Pargat Singh, Member of the Legislative Assembly, Govt. of Punjab, on 05th May’ 2017 at Ashwini Stadium, BSF Campus, Jalandhar Cantt.  During this 10 days long “Oorja CAPFs Youth U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament, Boys & Girls of different teams displayed their talent in football and played with full zeal and fervor. It creates a buzz about football prior to FIFA U-17 World cup to be held in our country in October 2017 which was the very aim of this tournament to engage youth and create fervor among them about football. Players with remarkable talent have been selected for the team of Punjab State which will participate in the 2nd phase of this tournament to be held in the month of June 2017 at Chandigarh. 

 
 
 
 
The tournament concluded on 14th May’ 2017 in an impressive and colorful ceremony held at Ashwini Stadium, BSF Campus, Jalandhar Cantt, Sh Charanjit Singh Channi, Minister of Technical Education and Industrial Training Govt. of Punjab was the Chief Guest on the occassion. In his address Sh Charanjit Singh Channi, Minister of Technical Education and Industrial Training, congratulated Border Security Force, Punjab Frontier Jalandhar for successfully organizing such a grand event in the Punjab state.

Expressing his deep concern over the deprived state of football in the country and the performance of Indian Football in world championships, he emphasized on need of improvement of football along with other popular games. He also reiterated the objective of the event to see football proliferating in every nook and corner of the country and lauded that this tournament is surely going to motivate the youth to play and carry the love for the game to greater heights. He motivated the young team members who have been selected for the next phase to play for team Punjab, to keep up the efforts and wished them good luck for the next phases at Chandigarh and Delhi respectively. 

 

Earlier at the event Shri Mukul Goel, IPS IG BSF Punjab Frontier welcomed the Chief Guest, all the participants and guests. He conveyed his thanks to the all sponsors and all the State Sports Authorities for rendering their help in smooth conduct of the event. The Chief Guest congratulated the winning teams and awarded the Trophy and prize money of Rs 50,000/- to the winner team in Boys and Girls category. Prize money of Rs 30,000/- along with trophies to the runner-ups and prize money of Rs 20,000/- were awarded to the teams secured third position in both the categories. Manisha of Paldi Football Academy,Hoshiapur (Girls) and Jagdeep of PIS, Hoshiarpur (Boys) were awarded as the best players of the tournament in Girls and Boys Category respectively.After completion of tournament teams position are declared as under-

PIS, Hoshiarpur won the final match in penalty shootout defeating Sr. Sec. School Paldi by 04-03
