PUNJAB BOYS TEAM BRINGS LAURELS BY WINNING THE OORJA CAPFs YOUTH U-19 FOOTBALL TALENT HUNT TOURNAMENT

The boy’s team did well and won the final by defeating Chandigarh, however, the Girls team lost to Haryana.

The Punjab Boys team under the supervision and coaching of FTR HQ BSF Punjab has won the first ever Oorja CAPFs Youth U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament.

The 3rd and final phase of Oorja CAPFs Youth U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament (boys & girls) were jointly organized by CRPF and SSB at New Delhi w.e.f 12 July to 19 July 2017. Top 06 teams of second phase tournament being organized by all CAPFs & Assam Rifle participated in the same.

 Mr. R.S.Kataria, DIG, BSF, Punjab Frontier sasid on 19 July 2017, final Boys match of 3rd phase was played between Punjab and Karnataka at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. The Punjab team defeated Karnataka by 5-3 in the tie-breaker. Shri Arun Jaitley, Minister of Finance & Defence, Govt. of India was the Chief Guest. Shri Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State of Home Affairs was also present during the closing ceremony of the tournament. The prize money of Rs. 05 Lakhs a/w the Oorja Cup was presented to the Winner’s and 03 lakhs a/w a trophy was presented to the Runner’s-up.

The Punjab Boys team under the supervision and coaching of FTR HQ BSF Punjab won the first ever Oorja CAPFs Youth U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament. Since the beginning of the tournament in May 2017 Ftr HQ Punjab was determined to display true spirit of the game and under the able guidance of worthy IG Punjab Frontier, tournament organized in a very enthusiastic manner and selection of Punjab team during 1st phase was made realistically considering the tough competition during next phases of the tournament. In 2nd phase at Chandigarh both Boys and Girls teams did well and reached the finals. The boy’s team did well and won the final by defeating Chandigarh, however, the Girls team lost to Haryana.
