Experts from different systems of medicine batted for  correct eating habits and ‘alcohol-free’ lifestyle to ensure healthy and long life at a seminar on “alcohol and lifestyle diseases”   organised here today.

Addressing the seminar, Dr Ravi Gupta, Medical Superintendent, Government Medical College Hospital, Sector 32, emphasized the need for physical activities, especially sports, in the ensuring a disease-free lifestyle.

 A renowned Ayurvedic doctor Vaid Jagjit Singh dwelled on the correct eating habits to ensure long and healthy life.  He strongly advocated against the use of intoxicants, including alcohol, for healthy lifestyle. Dr Varinder Gupta, a noted homoeopath, stressed upon contentment, correct food habits and adequate sleep for healthy lifestyle.

A member of the AA, a worldwide fellowship of  recovering alcoholics, informed that the fellowship helped the problem drinkers to kick up the bottle free of cost. Any problem drinker can dial AA helpline 9417037358 for help. In fact, a special meeting for the alcoholics is being organised at the Disha Group of AA at Shivalik Public School, Sector 41, Chandigarh, on August 6, he added.
