KANWAR VISHWAJIT PRITHVIJIT SINGH PASSES AWAY, PUNJAB CM CONDOLES

 Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today expressed profound grief over the demise of former Rajya Sabha Member and scion of the Kapurthala royal familly Kanwar Vishwajit Prithvijit Singh, who passed away at a private hospital in New Delhi on Sunday after a brief illness.

Kanwar Vishwajit was a personal friend whose loss would be severely felt, said the Chief Minister, who became close friends with Kanwar who joined Doon School when Captain Amarinder was in the final term.
The Chief Minister described Kanwar as a man full of life who inspired one and all with his vivacity and dynamism.
In his condolence message, the Chief Minister described Kanwar Vishwajit Prithvijit Singh as a multifaceted personality with the qualities of the head and heart. Capt Amarinder recalled Kanwar Vishwajit's valuable services to the Congress Party in various capacities as an AICC member.

The Chief Minister said that Kanwar Vishwajit Prithvijit Singh was a fine human being and a disciplined soldier of the party and above all a noble soul.

It may be recalled that Kanwar Vishwajit Prithvijit Singh was a close confidante of Late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi. He was first elected to Rajya Sabha in April 1982 from Maharashtra and he returned for a second term in April 1988.

Kanwar, 71, is survived by his wife Indian Foreign Service (IFS) Officer Vijay Thakur Singh, who is currently posted as Indian High Commissioner at Dublin in Ireland.

According to the family, Kanwar Vishwajit Prithvijit Singh was unwell for the past few days and was flown into Delhi from Dublin through a special air ambulance as his condition deteriorated. He was admitted at the Escorts hospital in New Delhi where he breathed his last today.
