VARNIKA KUNDU SHOWS THE WAY, BRALA’S SON VIKAS, HIS ACCOMPLICE ARRESTED ON CHARGE OF ATTEMPT TO KIDNAPPING

Chandigarh Police ultimately arrested Vikas Brala (23) and his accomplice Ashish on attempt to kidnapped Varnika Kundu daughter of Senior Haryana IAS Mr. Varinder Singh Kundu, Addl. Chief Secretary of Deptt. Of Tourism,, on Wednesday. Earlier both were arrested by the police on some mild charges and bailed out by Sector 26 Police Station. The Police at that time was reluctant to add IPC sections 365 and 511 and sent the file for legal opinion.

 Earlier Police summoned both the accused to join investigation at 9 A.M. Police, when police not found in Vikas Barala S/o Subhash Barala BJP President of Haryana, in Sector 7 residence, a notice pasted in front of the house to appear in Sector 26 Police Station for joining investigation. Both the accusesd reached the police station and question at least 3 hours to know the truth.

Ultimately both were arrested. Amidst much cricism and protest at national level especially in tricity, forced to police to arrest both the accused. The accused will be produced in the appropriate court on Thursday. Police sources said, police will seek the police remand of duo.

Varnika Kundu, the daughter of a bureaucrat, had posted on Facebook, being chased for several kilometres by Vikas and his friend Ashish on Friday after midnight. The 29-year-old DJ said they blocked her car, banged on her window and even tried to force open her door. The chase was caught on 5 to 6 CCTVs, the footage showing a white SUV racing after Ms Kundu's black sedan.

A police patrol team finally responded to the frantic SOS calls of Ms Kundu. But Vikas and Ashish were let off within hours of their arrest, because they were only charged with stalking and drink driving, which are bailable. They cannot get bail with the kidnapping charge.

After Ms Kundu's  and his father IAS Facebook posts went viral and led to massive public outrage, the spotlight was on the police, which was accused of trying to dilute the case under pressure from the state's ruling BJP. "We have new pieces of evidence as regards CCTV evidence... also we have witnesses and a map of the route," said Chandigarh DGP Tejinder Luthra, adding that the police had received some more details ini the last four days. DGP claimed we have now sufficient evidence to ensure just. It may be recalled that the accused, earliewr had refused to give their blood and urine samples on the nighty they were chased by PCR on call of victim girl. Vikas Barala's father insisted again today that there was no pressure on the police. "On beti Varnika, we respect the law. Vikas will cooperate fully with the police," Mr Barala told reporters.
