HARYANA: NO ADVERTISEMENTS ON ROAD SIDE WITHOUT PERMISSION

While taking stern action for displaying advertisement on roads without permission, the Municipal Corporation, Karnal has issued notices to 12 advertising firms and recovered a fine of about Rs 35,000 from them.  While stating this today, a spokesman of the Corporation said that displaying such advertisements in an unauthorized manner is considered as violation of section 3 of Haryana Prevention of Defacement of Property Act1989. 

The spokesman said that action against these firms has been taken under section 121 and 122 of Haryana Municipal Corporation Act 1994 and this drive would continue against the erring firms. He said that a team of Municipal Corporation alongwith a tractor-trolley visited the city on daily basis  who not only remove the advertisements  displayed in violation of section 3 of   Haryana Prevention of Defacement of Property 1989 Act  but also issue notices to the advertisers for putting up advertisements on public places.

He said that more than 100 such advertising agencies or firms have so far been issued notices. Those concerned who still have not given reply to the notices would also be penalized after getting their reply, he added.  He said that the Corporation has also invited tenders for hiring an additional tractor-trolley. The tenders would be opened on September 13, 2017

While giving details about the Haryana Municipal Corporation By- laws, he said that for displaying advertisements, all the traders, land-building owners, institutions and shopkeepers would be required to get them registered with Municipal Corporation. This registration would be valid for six years. He said that traders or businessmen of Karnal have been appealed not to display advertisements on public places without prior permission as it amount to gross violation of government rules.
