HDFC ERGO FAILED TO COMPLY ORDERS TO PAY INSURANCE CLAIM, COURT ORDERS TO ATTACH BANK ACCOUNT

Complainant Ashish Mittal of M/s Bhoomi Bhawan had moved the court seeking grievance redressal. The order of the Permanent Lok Adalat held in April stated that the complainant's Audi car met with an accident in 2015 and he submitted it for repairs through the insurance company. However, when the complainant took a test drive of the vehicle after repairs, a problem in the gear box was experienced.

A local court has attached the bank account of an insurance company for non-compliance of its orders. City’s Permanent Lok Adalat took this stern action against HDFC ERGO insurance company which had failed to pay Rs. 1.50 lakhs to a complainant.

The amount was to be paid for harassment in a case of not providing complete insurance claim of the complainant’s Audi car, which was damaged in a road accident.

The order of the Permanent Lok Adalat held in April stated that the complainant's Audi car met with an accident in 2015 and he submitted it for repairs through the insurance company. However, when the complainant took a test drive of the vehicle after repairs, a problem in the gear box was experienced.

The complainant asked the insurance company to get it fixed as well.However, the insurance company refused to do so and as a result, the car stayed at the workshop and the complaint could not use it since January 2015.The Court told the insurance company to get the gearbox repaired and a pay a sum of Rs 1.50 lac for harassment. However, the company failed to do so and Permanent Lok Adalat has now attached the bank account of the HDFC ERGO.
