INDIA-PAKISTAN CRICKET MATCH TO CELEBRATE INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE

INDIANAPOLIS (BALBIR SINGH)

Indiana Indian Business Council (IIBC), Indian Association of Indianapolis (IAI) and Pakistan American Friendship Association (PAFA) are jointly organising a 10-over-a-side cricket match on September 21 from 5 to 8 p.m at West Park, 2700 West 116th Street, Carmel.

Founder and President Indiana India Business Council Raju Chinthala disclosed that Carmel Mayor James Brainard will attend event as a chief guest.

The cricket match is being hosting to celebrate the International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”) which is observed around the world each year on September 21. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations Resolution 36/37, the General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to “commemorating and strengthening the ideals of peace both within and among all nations and peoples.”

The theme for 2017 is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.”

Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

To comemorate the Peace Day, the PAFA has joined hands with Indiana Indian Business Council and Indian Association of Indianapolis to hold thet match between Pakistani and Indian comunity teams.

It is a free, family friendly event. A Food Vendor will be available to purchase food from. We are expecting large crowds and your registration will help us organize this event better. "I request to all Pakistanis across Indiana to support this initiative and only their participation will make it a success. We want to send a positive message to rest of the world that we stand for peace and only working togther we can acheive that," said PAFA president Zakir Akbar.
