CHANDIGARH NARCOTICS BUREAU SEIZED 15 KG BIG HAUL OF OPIUM FROM KOTA IN RAJASTHAN

Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Chandigarh Zonal Unit has seized 15.050 kgs. Of opium sourced from Kota District in Rajasthan in the early morning hours of 11.10.2017 on Nohar Ellenabad Road.

Narcotics Control Bureau team under the supervision of Dr. Kaustubh Sharma, IPS Zonal Director had received information about trafficking of huge amount of opium from Kota in Rajasthan to Ellenabad area in the follow up of this information a team lead by Kuldeep Sharma, Superintendent of NCB, Chandigarh Unit alongwith Intelligence Officers Avdesh Kumar, Rajinder Singh, Rajan Kumar and Shailendra Prasad proceeded to the area on date 10.10.2017 and identified the area of likely delivery. NCB team had put Naka near Shri Ram dharam Kanta on Nohar Ellenabad road and spotted the Canter 1109 belonging to TATA company with number HR 47A 6097 at 3:15 AM on 11.10.2017 and stopped the vehicle.

Dr. Kaustubh Sharma, IPS, Zonal Director,Narcotics Control Bureau,  Chandigarh. said  NCB team thereafter verified the driver who was found to be matching with the description as provided in the information who disclosed his name as Pargat Singh S/o Gurcharan Singh, aged 34 years R/o Mallekan Village. As the Canter was loaded with 250 coriander seed bags, the canter was taken to Ellenabad Police Station where police officials were joined as witnesses and the search of the canter was done, this led to recovery of 15.050 kgs. Of Opium which was kept in 5 polythene packets, which were put in a bigger plastic bag, in addition 1.800 kgs. of poppy husk was also recovered in a separate plastic bag. It has been further verified that the contraband was loaded from Ramganj Mandi in Kota District of Rajasthan.

The Canter has also loaded coriander seed for a trader based in Amritsar from one Vinod Traders of Ramganj area, further NCB team investigated the linkages and conducted raids to identified recipients of the contraband.

This is the 66 seizure by NCB during 2017, it is also mentioned that on date 10.10.2017, NCB Sub Zonal Unit Amritsar under supervision of Superintendent Sachin Gularya had also arrested four persons in Amritsar and seized 3 kgs. of Charas which was sourced from Tisha area of Chamba, Himachal Pradesh.
