Punjab police have identified the shooter responsible for the targeted killings, including those of RSS leaders Brigadier Jagdish Gagneja and Ravinder Gosain, as Ramandeep Singh alias Raman Canadian.

The accused was on Wednesday produced in Baghapurana court and remanded to seven days of police custody. According to a police spokesperson, Ramadeep (28), a resident of Chuharwal, Ps Maherban, Ludhiana, had confessed to his involvement in the 7 killings and targeted attacks that had rocked the state since January 2016. The spokesperson said that besides the murders of Gagneja and Gosain, who were shot dead in August 2016 and October 2017 respectively, the accused had confessed to his involvement in the Amit Sharma murder case of February 2016, February 2017 Khanna killings of DSS follower Satpal Kumar and his son and the July 2017 Ludhiana killing of Christian Pastor Sultan Masih

He revealed that he had selected his targets and carried out the killings at the behest of his ISI handlers and some leaders of the Khalistan Liberation Force, who have taken refuge in Pakistan, with the intent of creating communal disturbances and destabilizing the state.

During his visit, the DGP met the Punjab police team, comprising IG Intelligence Amit Prasad, DIG Counter-Intelligence Ranbir Khatra, SSP Moga Ranjit Singh, SSP Batala Opinderjit Ghuman, SP Rajinder Singh, SP Wazir Singh, DSPs Sulakhan Singh and Sarabjit Singh, Inspector CIA Moga Kikar Singh and ASI Haripal, that cracked the case and congratulated them on Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s behalf.

The DGP said that the breakthrough of these sensational cases came with the arrest of Jimmy Singh, a Jammu resident who recently returned to India from UK after spending many years there, and was picked up a week ago from Delhi’s IGI airport. His interrogation led to the arrest of Jagtar Singh Johal alias Jaggi, a UK national, and also revealed the active involvement of Dharmender @ Guggni, a gangster who was lodged in Nabha Jail, in the deadly conspiracy.

The DGP said that the police had enough forensic and ballistic evidence to link the killer to these crimes He said that same kind of weapons were used in all the crimes.
