HOCKEY OLYMPIAN GEETA BISWAS PASSES AWAY AT 63

Hockey Olympian Geeta Biswas (63) passes away here this morning. She was ailing protacted illness. She was an international umpire.

Geeta Biswas was a retiree from Air India, represented India in 1980 Moscow Olympic games. Geeta, a centre-half and a forward, played for India for a number of years and had the distinction of leading the national team in the Madras International tournament in 1975. She played her first Nationals in 1968. She played for India in Japan (1970), New Zealand (1971), France (1974), Scotland (1975), Canada (1975) besides Moscow Olympic games.
