MINI MARATHON MARKS THE BEGINNING OF MEDIA FEST 'SOCH' AT PANJAB UNIVERSITY

School of Communication Studies, PU organised a Mini Marathon in the South Campus of the University at 7:30 a.m., Monday morning, 14th of November. The event was sponsored by Bolt Gym and XS Life. Dr. Parminder Singh, Director of Sports, PU inaugurated the marathon as the Chief Guest. Prof. Archana R. Singh, Chairperson, SCS, and Associate Prof. Jayanth N. Pethkar, faculty member and coordinator for ‘Soch’, participated in the event with the students of the university, boosting their morale and showcasing sportsmanship.

“Through the Mini Marathon, we did not just give a push start to our fest, ‘Soch’ but also brought awareness amongst the students to remain fit and healthy!” – Jayanth N. Pethkar, faculty member.

“Organizing this Mini-Marathon as an event, by the faculty and the students of the School of Communication Studies is a commendable step. We shall make sure that the Sports department does every possible thing to help ‘Soch’ become a successful event.” – Dr. Parminder Singh, Director of Sports (chief guest).

Participation went up to 150 students from the university. Vidhanshu (Physical Education department), Ravinder (UIET), Gursewak Singh (Physical Education department), bagged the first three positions respectively. The winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates. The students were very enthusiastic and zealous about the event.

“Every sports person needs to be and should be self motivated, self motivation is a must. One can achieve everything with a strong will power. It does not matter how much you’re running, you should be passionate and focused enough to run as a sports person and run for your own self so as to achieve your goal.” – Vidhanshu, expressed his feelings after winning the run.

The event has marked the beginning of the upcoming two-day media fest at School of Communication Studies, PU on the 17th and 18th of November. Pre invitational events will further see a rally and a flash mob in the university campus itself on the 16th of November.
