PUTA DEMANDS IMPLEMENTATION OF REVISED PAY SCALES AS PER 7TH PAY COMMISSION

November 16, 2017 02:40 PM

PUTA strongly condemned the harassment of Teachers by the PU authorities, especially in the cases of Dr. Neelam Paul and Prof. Ashish Jain. It was further resolved that for handling issues concerning teachers, PUTA should always be taken into confidence, rather than taking the issue/s to governing bodies time and again. It was resolved that University must adopt Roster System for appointing Selection and Inspection Committees, to ensure complete transparency and equal opportunity, leaving no space for ‘Pick and Choose’ Policy.

A meeting of Executive Committee of Panjab University Teachers Association (PUTA) held here on Wednesday. Meeting unanimously expressed its gratitude to Hon ‘ble Chancellor, Sh. Venkaiah Naidu and Hon ‘ble Governor, Sh. V.P. Singh Badnore, for granting an opportunity to the Vice Chancellor, Panjab University and his delegation, to present their case.

PUTA representatives attended the AIFUCTO Meeting held on 11.11.2017 at Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Delhi, in which strong objections were raised against the revised pay scales under 7th Pay Commission, with no provision for M.Phil./Ph.D. increments, to the disadvantage of teachers. Members also took strong objection to the fact that V S Chauhan Committee Report was not made public and the new recommendations under the Commission had given only meager benefits to the teachers which were peanuts. These concerns were shared with the PUTA Executive members.
It was resolved that PU authorities should implement the revised pay scales as per 7th Pay Commission, notified by MHRD, immediately.

PUTA unanimously resolved that Webcasting of all the Proceedings of Senate and Syndicate, be implemented for complete transparency in governance, and these may also be posted on the web portal for an easy access to all stakeholders. Further, the DVDs/Audios of proceedings of all meetings, which are videographed/audio-recorded, should be supplied to any teacher on his/her request immediately. It was resolved that the Minutes of all such Committees in which PUTA President/Nominee is a member, must be finalized only after getting the same vetted and signed by the PUTA President.
