In a major breakthrough the Crime Branch of Chandigarh Police under the supervision of Inspector Amanjot Singh arrested the most notorious gang of snatchers and vehicle lifters who were involved in recent chain snatchings and auto lifting from Chandigarh.

 The accused identified as Naman Sehgal s/o Sh. Rajesh Kumar r/o House No. NC-102, Kot Kishan Chand Jalandhar, Shubham Sehgal s/o Sh. Rajesh Kumar r/o House No. NC-102, Kot Kishan Chand Jalandhar and
Gurdeep Singh @ Kala s/o Kashmira Singh r/o House No. 145, Sector-24, Mandi Gobindgarh, Distt. Fatehgarh Sahib, Punjab.

During the interrogation of these accused it has been revealed that they are involved in several cases of gold chain snatchings and vehicles lifting from Chandigarh and from them Anti Snatching, Robbery and Dacoity detection cell of Crime Branch is able to solve total 12 cases out of which 7 are of gold chain snatchings and 1 case of gold ear Tops snatching and 4 cases of vehicle theft. Both the arrested Naman and Subham are real brothers and are permanent resident of Jalandhar.

The modus operandi of these brothers is that they used to target ladies wearing gold chains or ear rings who are pedestrian. They usually snatch chains during the day time and immediately after the snatching they used to go to Mandi Gobindgarh (Khanna) and from where they buy narcotics from one of the paddler. They used to hand over the snatched chains to the paddler, one such chain and stolen motor cycles has also been recovered from this paddler namely Gurdeep Singh.

All the accused persons have a tainted past as all of them have been arrested in different cases of narcotics, motor vehicles theft and snatching earlier by Punjab Police. Both these brothers committing crime of snatching recently in Jalandhar and when they have been identified by the Jalandhar Police they left the Jalandhar city and started living in Chandigarh as paying guest in H.No. 99, Sec.20, Chandigarh. While living Jalandhar they had stolen one splendor bike from Jalandhar Railway Station bearing registration No. PB08BL-2994 and this bike they further used in snatchings, which is recovered.
