HARYANA COMMISSION FOR PROTECTION OF CHILD RIGHTS ORGANIZED e-LEARNING MODULE ON CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE

The Haryana State Commission for Protection of child rights today organized launch event for E Learning Module on Child sexual Abuse for children titled “Satarak Mein Surakshit Mein” in collaboration with Save the Children which was inaugurated by Worthy Additional Chief Secretary Department of Education, Haryana ShKishan Kumar Khandelwal in the presence of Chairperson Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rghts Mrs. Jyoti Bainda and senior officials of Department of education and department of women and child development.

 This module will be screened in all government schools of Haryana and will be an added tool in the dissemination of basic child protection education for children. Through this module, children will learn about safe and unsafe touch; how to keep themselves safe and how to report unsafe situations.

Worthy ACS , Department of School Education, Haryana was the chief guest of the program. He appreciated the collaborative effort and promised full support of the Department of Education. He spoke about creating child protection patrol groups under scouts and guides program. He also stated that the department of education is willing to create a child protection wing in collaboration with Haryana State commission for protection of child rights to support research and development activities which will ultimately benefit the children

Speaking on the occasion Mrs. Jyoti Bainda   stated that it’s the first time focus is being put to reach to children in Government schools in Haryana.Government of India has taken many legislative and policy measures to strengthen the response mechanism for cases of child sexual abuse however much needs to be done for effective implementation.

She pointed out that Haryana State Commission for Protection of Child Rights has been given the statutory mandate to monitor the implementation of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act 2012 in Haryana State.She expressed concern over the spike in sexual offences against small children. We should be doing everything in our power to ensure these children not only get justice by the criminal justice system but also manage to lead lives to its fully capacity.

Its our job to ensure children get the benefit of all the measures that have been out in place by the various legislations. Elaborating on the Modules she mentioned that total of 4 modules will be prepared eventually. The first module is meant for children of age group 6 to 10 years; second module is for adolescents (11 to 18 years of age); the third module for adult citizens; and fourth module is meant for supervisors/trainers.

She thanked the ACS, Department of School education, Haryana for his support for the event and expressed hope that together HSCPCR and Department of Education can reach out to more children and make a sincere effort to ensure their safety.
