Haryana Government has given another opportunity to those colonizers who defaulting on the payment of external development charges (EDC) in the state.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of Town and Country Planning Department said that now the defaulting colonizers would get time till April 22, 2018 for depositing EDC.

He said that time extension of six months is given subject to the condition that 10 per cent amount of the dues outstanding as on January 22, 2017 would have to be deposited along with the applicable interest at two and half times rate on the 10 per cent amount till the money is deposited. In addition, due installments on July 22, 2017 and January 22, 2018 (if applicable) shall be deposited at the time of application.

He said that the remaining installments would become due as if the policy was adopted on January 22, 2017 which means that the installment would become due on January 22, 2018, July 22, 2018 and January 22, 2019. There would no extension of the policy beyond April 22, 2018.

He said that State Government had come out with the relief policy for recovery of EDC on April 12, 2016, under which the developers were given options to mortgage the project land or submit the bank guarantee to enable them to pay their outstanding EDC or IDC.
