HARYANA ISSUES GUIDELINES TO GET COMPENSATION DUE TO LOSS OF FLOODS, EARTHQUAKES AND NATURAL CALAMITIES

Haryana Government has issued revised guidelines for compensation of loss of commercial property of small shopkeepers, rehriwalas, fadiwalas and khokha or kiosk owners due to fire, electrical hazards, floods, earthquakes, riots and natural calamities.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of Urban Local Bodies-cum-Fire Service Department said that in case of urban properties, shops upto area of 200 square feet within limit of Municipalities would be eligible for compensation. The rehri, fadi, khokha or kiosk within the limit of municipalities would be covered. For claiming compensation of loss, he said that the affected persons would have to inform the office of concerned municipality in writing.

In case of Municipal Corporation, a committee headed by Joint Commissioner, Municipal Corporation would get the assessment done to the extent of loss of commercial property due to fire, floods, electrical hazards, earthquakes, riots and other natural calamities. Similarly, a committee headed by Sub Divisional Magistrate would get the assessment done in the areas falling under the jurisdiction of municipal council or committee.

The committee would recommend the assistance to be provided, to the Commissioner, Municipal Corporation in case of Municipal Corporation and to the Deputy Commissioner in case of municipal council or committee with a period of seven days. The compensation would be paid through RTGS or Bank transfer to the property owners by the concerned municipality out of its own funds. After that, they would seek reimbursement from the Directorate of Urban Local Bodies within a period of five days, he added.

In case of shop upto 200 square feet, 100 per cent compensation would be given for damage upto Rs one lakh, 75 per cent for damage between Rs one lakh and Rs two lakh, 60 per cent for damage between Rs two lakh and Rs three lakh, 50 per cent for damage between Rs three lakh to Rs five lakh, 40 per cent for damage between Rs five lakh to Rs seven lakh and 30 per cent for damage between Rs seven lakh to Rs 10 lakh. If loss beyond Rs 10 lakh, no compensation would be given.

In case of khokha or kiosk, 100 per cent compensation would be given to the affected persons for damage upto Rs30,000, 75 per cent for damage between Rs 30,000 and Rs 50,000, 60 per cent for damage between Rs50,000 and Rs one lakh, 50 per cent for damage between Rs one lakh to Rs 1.5 lakh. If the loss would beyond Rs 1.5 lakh, the compensation would not be given. Similarly, for Rehri or Fadi category, quantum of compensation would be 100 per cent and 75 per cent in case of loss upto Rs30,000 and between Rs30,000 and Rs50,000. No compensation would be given in case loss beyond Rs50,000.
