HARYANA GOVT. NOTIFIED LIST OF HOLIDAYS FOR THE YEAR 2018

Haryana Government has notified the schedule of holidays to be observed as public holidays in the public offices under the State Government during the calendar year 2018. The Government has also notified the holidays to be observed as public holidays in the State (Except Judicial Courts, in Haryana) within the meaning of section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.

While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that a notification in this regard has been issued by General Administration Department. He said that the besides all Sundays and Saturdays, the holidays which would be observed as public holidays in the public offices included Guru Gobind Singh’s Birthday on January 5, Basant Panchmi and Sir Chhotu Ram Jayanti on January 22, Republic Day on January 26, Guru Ravidas’s Birthday on January 31, Maha Shivratri on February 14, Holi on March 2, Shaheedi Diwas of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev on March 23, Mahavir Jayanti on March 29, Lord Parshu Ram Jayanti on April 18, Sant Kabir Jayanti onJune 28, Shaheed Udham Singh’s Martyrdom Day on July 31, Independence Day onAugust 15, Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid) on August 22, Janmashtami on September 3, Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti on October 2, Maharaja Agrasen Jayanti on October 10, Dussehra onOctober 18, Maharishi Valmiki’s Birthday on October 24, Haryana Day on November 1, Diwali on November 7, Vishavkarma Day on November 9, Guru Nanak’s Birthday onNovember 23 and Christmas Day on December 25.

The spokesman said that the festivals and occasions which falls on non-working days and have been excluded from the list included Ram Navmi on March 25, Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s Jayanti on April 14, Id-ul-Fitr and Maharana Pratap Jayanti on June 16, Raksha Bandhan on August 26 and Haryana Heroes’ Martyrdom Day on September 23.

He said that besides these holidays, employees may be allowed any three holidays to be chosen out of the Restricted Holidays. These included Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati Jayanti (with State celebration) on February 10, Good Friday on March 30, Budh Purnima on April 30, Guru Arjan Dev’s Martyrdom Day on June 16, Hariyali Teej onAugust 13, Muharram on September 21, Karwa Chauth on October 27, Goverdhan Puja on November 8, Chhath Puja on November 13, Milad-un-Nabi or Id-E-Milad (Birthday of Prophet Mohammad) on November 21, Guru Teg Bahadur’s  Martyrdom Day onNovember 24 and Shaheed Udham Singh’s Birthday on December 26.

He said that holidays to be observed as public holidays in the State (Except Judicial Courts, in Haryana) within the meaning of section 25 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881 included all Sundays, Republic Day on January 26, Guru Ravidas’s Birthday on January 31, Maha Shivratri on February 14, Holi on March 2, Mahavir Jayanti on March 29, Annual Closing of Bank Account (1st working day of April) on April 1, Dr. B.R Ambedkar’s Jayanti on April 14, Budh Purnima on April 30, Id-ul-Fitr on June 16, Independence Day onAugust 15, Janmashtami on September 3, Mahatma Gandhi Birthday on October 2, Dussehra on October 18, Maharishi Valmiki’s Birthday on October 24, Diwali onNovember 7, Guru Nanak’s Birthday on November 23 and Christmas Day on December 25.
