PANDIT LAKHMI CHAND PRESENTED CULTURE HARYANA THROUGH WRITINGS OF SAANG AND RAAGNI: KAVITA JAIN

Haryana Women and Child Development and Urban Local Bodies Minister, Mrs. Kavita Jain today said Pandit Lakhmi Chand has presented culture of Haryana through his writings of Saang and Raagni. 

Mrs Jain was addressing the people at village Jaati Kalan, in Sonipat district on the 118 anniversary of Pandit Lakhmi Chand. She said people of country in general and Haryana in particular, would always be indebted to him for his contribution to the tradition of saang, a narration of social virtues, which she said were relevant even today and maintaining its importance.

She announced that a stage would be built in village Khatkar in his memory for motivating the artists of future generations. The village Panchayat had already contributed one and a half acre piece of land for this purpose, she added. 

She said that bus services from Jatti village to Sonipat and Delhi would be run for the convenience of the people. She also announced to name the road from GT road to Jatti Kalan Village after Pandit Lakhmi Chand and to install a board in the GT road named as Pandit Lakhmi Chand Marg. She said that to promote his writings, one Raagni or Saang artist would be given a cash award of Rs one lakh by the State Government every year.
