The State Level Function to mark the ‘National Voters Day’ will be organized at Government College, Sector-1, Panchkula on January 25, 2018. The theme of the National Voters Day this year will be ‘Accessible Elections’. While stating this here today, Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana Mr Ankur Gupta said State Election Commissioner, Dr Dalip Singh would be the Chief Guest on this occasion.

He said that as per the decision of Election Commission of India, January 25, the foundation day of Election Commission is celebrated every year as National Voters Day since 2011. He said that those who have become voters for the first time would be distributed photo voter identity cards during the functions organized on that day. Apart from this, colourful programmes would be organized by the students at school and college level.

Mr Gupta said that as per the direction of Election Commission of India, special brief revision of photo voter lists of all 90 assembly constituencies in the State has been completed on the basis of January 1, 2018 as qualifying date. The final publication of this list has already been made at all designated sites on January 10, 2018. As a result of this revision, about 3.22 lakh new voters have been registered in the State thus taking the total number of registered voters in the State to 1.71 crore, he added.

He urged the people to check their name and other details in the final published list in the offices of concerned registration officer and district election officer on any working day. Apart from this, the voter list is also available on the website of department www.ceoharyana.nic.in. He also appealed the people of the State to participate in the district and state level programme and make this programme a grand success in interest of the nation.
