LAWYERS RESPONSIBILITY TO GUIDE THEIR CLIENTS THROUGH LEGAL SYSTEM WITH BOTH SKILL AND THOUGHTFULNESS: JUSTICE SURYA KANT

PROGRESSIVE LAWYERS FORUM AND HIGH COURT BAR ASSOCIATION ORGANISED “HOW TO BE A GOOD LAWYER”

The Progressive Lawyers Forum& High Court Bar Association organized a interactive seminar today for the benefit of “Lawyers & Law Students” at High Court Judges Auditorium. The focus of the seminar was on imbibing practical skills as a lawyer that could be immediately relevant in their daily practice of law in courts. It will also help to cultivate the best ethical practices for the lawyers in their interaction with their clients.

Hon'ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant, Judge,Punjab & Haryana High Court along with HMJ Rajesh Bindal presided over the seminar and spoke on” How to be Good Lawyer”. HMJ ArunPalli, HMJ ShekharDhawan, HMJ Arvind Singh Sanghwan, HMJ Amit Rawal, Sh. Anmol Rattan Sidhu, President, HCBA, Sh. Gaurav Goel, President, PLF attended the same.".

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Surya Kant said that Lawyers have a responsibility to guide their clients through the legal system with both skill and thoughtfulness. There are a number of different attributes that it takes to be a successful lawyer. Howeverthe lawyer must Keep himself/herself up-to-date on your area of law. Be aware of new developments, as laws and rules often change and new cases are being decided every day.

Hon’ble Mr. Rajesh Bindal speaking on the subject said that in order to be a successful lawyer, you must be able to look at a legal issue from all sides in order to come up with the best solution. Make sure you have a clear grasp of all of the pertinent facts before you form your conclusion.
Hon’ble Mr. Justice ArunPalli said that all successful lawyers have excellent communication skills, whether speaking to the court, other lawyers, or their clients. They must be able to articulate a client’s position to the court, effectively question a witness, argue to a bench. With respect to clients, a lawyer must be able to obtain all information from a client that is necessary to represent him or her with sensitivity.
Mr.Saurav Khurana, Secretary of the Progressive Lawyers Forum said that such training programmes will certainly benefit the young lawyers to know the art of advocacy. The Forum purposes to further conduct lawyers training workshops at the regular intervals.
