JUSTICE RANJIT SINGH INQUIRY COMMISSION VISITS CITY TO PROBE SACRILEGE INCIDENTS " RECORDS STATEMENTS OF EYEWITNESSES

Constituted by Punjab Government, Commission of Inquiry, headed by former Punjab and Haryana High Court
judge, justice Ranjit Singh, visited different areas of the city on Thursday to probe into the incidents of sacrilege of Holy Books.

At first, Justice Ranjit Singh (retd) went to Malhi Farm House and inspected a spot in Chander Nagar at where sacrilege incident hadhappened in December 2016.

Commission Chairman Justice Ranjit Singh (Retd), who was accompanied by Joint Director Prosecution Angrez Singh and Registrar JP Mehmi, interacted with the people and collected the information about the two
incidences in the same locality.

Then, the commission recorded the statements of eyewitnesses and talked with police officials related to the cases.

Later, they also visited Mohalla Fatehgarh, Street No. 6 of Partap Singhwala School Road and Mohalla Baba Nand Singh Nagar in the city.  The sacrilege cases were also reported in these areas from 2015-2017. Meanwhile, the commission would again visit Rurqa village near Mullanpur, Mohalla Ajit Nagar of Jagraon, Kamalpura  village nearJagraon, Jandi village near Sidhwan Bet and Partap Singhwala School Road on February 12 and on February 15, the commission would visit Rasoolpur, Lamma, Pamal and Libra villages besides Mohalla Ajit Colonyin Giaspura.
