LION SERVICES INTER-MEDIA ATHLETICS MEET:HANDA, DAVI, HARPREET KAUR AND SUNITA SURA ADJUDGED ‘BEST ATHLETE’

Davi Davinder Kaur of Punjab Tribunei and Ramesh Handa of Punjab Kesari were adjudged the ‘best athlete’ in the women and men’s category (+45years), respectively, in the Lion Services Inter-Media Athletics Meet held at Sector 7 Sports Complex on Sunday. The meet was organised by Chandigarh Press Club in association with Lion Services Ltd.

Davi Davinder Kaur clinched gold medal in 3km walk, long jump and shot put, while Ramesh Handa won top honours in long jump, high jump and 100m sprint.

Both Harpreet Kaur and Sunita Sura won two gold and silver each to grab the ‘best athlete’ award in the women open category.

 
 
 
 
Chandigarh Mayor Davesh Moudgil was the chief guest, while Prashant Mehrotra, DGM Lion Services Ltd, was guest of honour.

In the men’s 3km walk, Birender Rawat of Danik Bhaskar won gold, Sukhwinder Pal Sodhi of Punjabi Tribune won silver and Mukesh Kumar of Divya Himachal won bronze.

In the men’s +55yrs walk category, LN Patnaik won gold, while Sanjay Malhotra of PTC won silver and Ramesh Sharma won bronze.

In the women’s 3km walk, Davi Davinder Kaur won gold. Gurpreet Kaur won silver, while Sukhwinder Kaur and Jaspal won bronze.

In the men’s 100m (open category), Sandeep Rana won gold. Deepankar Sharda won silver, while Abraham Varghese won bronze. All the three winners were from The Tribune.

In the men’s 100m (+45 years category), Ramesh Handa of Punjab Kesari won gold, Sanjay Kurl of Punjab Kesari won silver, while Sanjay Kalia of The Tribune won bronze.

In the men’s 100m (+55 years category), Parvesh Kapoor of Hindustan Times won gold, LN Patnail won silver.

In the women’s 100m, Harpreet Kaur won gold, Gurpreet won silver while Jasvir Kaur won bronze.

In the men’s open category discus throw event, Yaspal Rawat of Times Now won gold, while Sanjay Kurl of Punjab Kesari of Mansa Ram Rawat of Punjabi Tribune won silver and bronze medal, respectively.

In the men’s open category shot put event, Kamleshwar Singh of Indian Express won gold. Vikash Thakur of Punjab Kesari won silver, while Yashpal Rawat of Times Now won bronze.

In the men’s 45-55years shot put, Sanjay Kurl won gold. Amar Walia of Punjabi Tribune won silver, while Ramesh Sharma of UNI won bronze.

In the men’s long jump event, Ramesh Handa won gold, Sandeep Rana and Ajay Sura of Times of India were placed joint second, while Gautam Rishi won bronze.

In the men’s 400m (open category), Mansa Ram Rawat clinched gold, Ajay Sura won silver, while Amarpreet won bronze.

In the men’s 400m (+45 years), Sanjay Kalia won gold. Amar Walia won silver.
