CM must reveal the names of Congress MLA’s involved in illegal mining and “Goonda” tax collection, should recover the said “Goonda” tax, stated Khaira after visiting the Bathinda refinery toady.

After visiting the Bathinda oil refinery today LoP Khaira in a statement released here urged Capt. Amarinder Singh to make public the names of Congress MLA’s or their near and dear ones, involved in the collection of “Goonda” tax and blatant illegal mining in the state.

Khaira said now that “the cat has come out of the bag” during the last cabinet meeting, where Tripat Rajinder Singh Bajwa directly pointed a finger towards his colleague Manpreet Badal accusing his brother in law Jojo of collecting “Goonda” tax from the contractors of Bathinda oil refinery, the onus of revealing names of all such politicians lies with the Chief Minister.

Media has also reported that Capt. Amarinder Singh during the cabinet meeting called up Mr. Suresh Arora DGP, ordering him to take strict action against all such violators, said Khaira. In other words the CM is fully aware and seized of the names of all Congress MLA’s, politicians and their relatives involved in the sleazy trade of “Goonda” tax collection and illegal mining, claimed Khaira.

Khaira said he has also learnt that Mr. Rahul Gandhi has taken very serious view of “Goonda” tax collection by a relative of the Finance Minister and Congress MLA’s, as it will give a handle to BJP to browbeat him on the issue of corruption at a time when the Congress has been able to corner the BJP over graft at the national level be it Amit Shah’s son case, the Rafel deal, PNB scam etc. After having forced Capt. Amarinder Singh to drop his blue eyed Minister Rana Gurjit, Rahul Gandhi wants to send a strong signal over corruption.

Khaira said similarly the issue of illegal mining continues to dominate the political scene of Punjab, with daily reports of Congress leaders indulging in blatant mining particularly in the Malwa region. Khaira said he has concrete information that ADGP Intelligence has given a detailed report along with all the names of Congress leaders involved in illegal mining to the Chief Minister.

Similarly, Khaira said that Suresh Arora DGP also must disclose what action he had taken on the directions of CM, on the issue of “Goonda” tax and illegal mining and against who all.

Therefore, Khaira said it was the moral responsibility of the Chief Minister to disclose all such names of Congress Ministers, MLA’s and their relatives involved in “Goonda” tax collection as well as illegal mining.

After meeting the management of oil refinery, contractors and transporters, LoP Khaira briefed the electronic media at the gate of oil refinery, where he demanded that since the Chief Minister had admitted to the menace of collection of “Goonda” tax at the oil refinery, he should ensure that the entire amount of “Goonda” tax collected by the mafia backed by politicians should be recovered immediately. A white paper should be issued by Punjab government calculating the quantum of “Goonda” tax collected over the period of years, the names of those involved and the government should ensure recovery of the said “Goonda” tax, only then semblance of rule of law can be restored in Punjab.
