ELECTION COMMISSION ANNOUNCED SCHEDULE FOR BIENNIAL ELECTION TO THE COUNCIL OF STATES TO FILFIL VACANT SEAT

Haryana Chief Electoral Officer, Mr Ankur Gupta informed that the Election Commission of India has published schedule for Biennial Election to the Council of States to fill one seat which will be vacated due to the retirement of Sh. Shadi Lal Batra, sitting Member of Rajya Sabha.

The Election Commission has appointed Sh. Vijay Singh Dahiya as Returning Officer and Sh. Naren Dutt, Joint Secretary, Haryana Vidhan Sabha as Assistant Returning Officer for the Biennial Election.

 The Schedule for the Biennial Election will be as under:

23rd March,2018 at 5 pm

26th March,2018

In the event of the election being contested, the poll will take place on 23rd March, 2018 between 9 am to 4 pm. Counting will be held on the same day at 5 pm by the Returning officer. The Chief Electoral Officer further informed that all necessary arrangements are being made for the conduct of free, fair and smooth election for the purpose of marking preferences on the ballot paper. In order to conduct free, fair and peaceful election only integrated violet colour sketch pen of the pre-fixed specification, provided by the Returning Officer shall be used and no other pen under any circumstances should be used in the Election and for its close monitoring the election process observer will be appointed by the Election Commission of India.
