COMPETENT FOUNDATION ORGANISED BLOOD DONATION CAMP, 278 UNITS OF BLOOD COLLECTED

As many as 278 units of blood were collected by the Competent Foundation in its 19th blood donation camp, held at Community Centre, Sector 19-B, Chandigarh, organised by Competent Foundation in association with the Rehri-Farhi Association of Chandigarh, with the help of PGI (Post Graduate Institute Of Medical Education & Research), on the occasion of Sri Hanuman Jayanti today, where 55 persons also donated their organs.

  
 
It is pertinent to mention that Competent is organizing such Blood Donation Camps twice a year, one on the occasion of Sri Hanuman Jayant and second on the birth day of its President, Sanjay Tandon on 10 September. 18 various projects being implemented by Competent Foundation were also shown by Power Point Presentation.

Competent Foundation is a charitable organization of Competent Group, which is handling call Centre, stock brokerage, commodity brokerage, insurance brokerage, and financial consultancies etc. This foundation is known for undertaking various projects to help the under privileged in the society by organizing weekly langars, medical camps, cremation of unclaimed bodies, chemotherapy of cancer patients, free education, circulating daily good thoughts and weekly stories, since 2006. Till date the Foundation had given 5225 units of blood to PGI and GMCH, Chandigarh, through 18 camps.

This camp was inaugurated by Padmashree, the Flying Sikh S. Milkha Singh, An Indian former Track and Field Sprinter, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion and the programme was presided over by the President of Competent Foundation Sh. Sanjay Tandon.

While speaking on the occasion, Sardar Milkha Singh appreciated the work done by Competent Foundation under the Chairmanship of Sanjay Tandon, State President, BJP Chandigarh, for helping the society in general and patients in need of blood, in particular. He also thanked the role played by the Indian Army in creation of a person like Milkha Singh. While remembering his past he mentioned that he had cried three times in life; once on the killing of his parents and siblings in 1947, second time when he missed Gold medal in Rome Olympics and third time on seeing the movie based on his life. He said he had given his life history for Re.1/- and refused offers of money in crores of rupees, to many film makers. He said the way Sanjay Tandon is working, he shall be in the heart of all residents of Chandigarh, while he fondly remembered the early days when Mrs Priya Tandon used to be a frequent visitor in his house being his daughters friend. He donated Rs.2 lakh for the Competent Foundation.

This programme was also attended by the members of many organisations including Balaji Prachar Mandal Organisation, Chandigarh Taxi Operators Association, Guest Teachers Association, Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, UT Employees Housing Association, SSA Teachers Association, Purvanchal Welfare Association, NSS Students from Government College Sector 11 Chandigarh, Chandigarh Police and individuals such as Shshank Anand SSP Traffic and Security, Ashwani Munjal from PGI, Sanjeev Chadha, Colonel G S Chaddha Registrar Panjab University, Former ChairmanHousing Board,Maninder Bhains, Director Housing Board Tarsem Garg CA, Raghuvir Arora, Ramvir Bhatti & Ramlal Vice Presidents, Prem Kaushik General Secretary of BJP Chandigarh, were present. In addition, Councillors of Muncipal Corporation Chandigarh including Asha Jaswal, Rajbala Malik, Santosh Sharma, Harjinder Kaur, Heera Negi, Maheshinder Sidhu, Rajesh Gupta (Bittu), Jagtar Singh Jagga, Bharat Kumar, Sunita Dhawan, Shipra Bansal, Md Khurseed, Spokes person Kailash Chand Jain, Youth Morcha Presidents Gaurav Goel, Krishan Kumar, Monika Bansal, Balwinder Sharma, District Presidents Jatinder Malhotra and Devi Singh, also attended.

Sanjay Tandon also extended his thanks to the Chief Guest and all participants and blood donors and Doctors from PGI for their contribution. Ex Mayor Asha Jaswal, being a local councillor presented vote of thanks on behalf of Competent Foundation. She also thanked Sanjay Tandon for bringing such a renowned personality in sector 19, Chandigarh.
