This conference is the fifth event on Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI), organised jointly between the London School of Management Education (LSME) and Panjab University. This three-day conference, beginning 4th April, brings together researchers from many disciplines for one purpose: to change the focus of research from knowledge to results.

This has been made possible by the astonishing success of LSME as an international hub for RRI activity, and the academic excellence of Panjab University. The two organisations are connected via the co-founders of LSME, Dr Ravi Kumar and Dr Sarita Parhi, who attended PU as doctoral students before starting LSME.

The conference features papers from distinguished academics and doctoral students from all over the world. For the first time, we are also holding a workshop for researchers, on the “Principles and Practices of Responsible Research and Innovation”. This will empower a new generation of researchers, who will use their talent and energy to solve the problems of society in collaboration with all its members.

International collaboration between colleges and universities is an emerging field. Colleges, such as LSME, are where education and management practitioners are trained, whilst universities focus on both teaching and research. Bringing the experience of practitioners into research opens up the possibility of a new kind of research culture, which puts the needs of society first.

On Thursday 5th April, one of the special sessions will concern the United Nations Principles of Responsible Management Education, to which LSME is a Signatory. The Vice Chancellor of Panjab University, Professor Arun Grover, will preside over this important session.

LSME and PU have been working with a wide range of partners in this joint venture, including the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim, Norway. Other partners include university staff from all over the UK, US and South Africa.
