CBI ARRESTS MEDICAL OFFICER ACCEPTING BRIBE OF EIGHT THOUSANDS FOR ISSUING FITNESS CERTFICIATE IN ODHISHA

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reported to have arrested In-charge CMS, Central Hospital, Brajaraj Nagar, Jharsuguda (Odisha) for demanding & accepting a bribe of Rs. 8000/- from the complainant for issuing him medical fitness certificate.

A case was registered U/s 7 of PC Act, 1988 against the accused on a complaint alleging therein that after death of complainant’s father in July 2016 (who was working as a Fitter in Lakhanpur OCP of MCL), complainant applied for his employment to MCL on compassionate ground.

Application was processed and his medical fitness check-ups were conducted at MCL Central Hospital situated at IB Valley Area, Brajaraj Nagar, Jharsuguda. The accused demanded bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant which was later on lowered down to Rs. 8000/- for issuing favourable medical fitness certificate.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed while demanding & accepting the bribe of Rs. 8000/- from the complainant. Searches were conducted at the residence / office premises of the accused.
