HARYANA IMPLEMENTED NEW SCHEME TO PROVIDE JOB FOR SPORTSPERSONS: ANIL VIJ

Haryana Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Mr Anil Vij said that the new scheme implemented in Haryana for the sportsperson has paved way for providing government jobs to even those sportsperson who were deprived of the same in previous governments. This is the first-of-its-kind benefit for sports person in the country, he added.

  Mr Vij said that the sportsperson getting gold medal in the Olympic Games would be provided the job of HCS or HPS with eight years seniority and those winning silver medal would be given job of HCS or HPS with four years seniority. He said that the department has been directed to prepare the complete data of sportspersons. 

Meanwhile, the officers of the Department and sportspersons has thanked the Sports Minister for giving due honour to the sportspersons.

OLYMPICS GOLD MEDALISTS ENTITLED FOR HCS AND HPS WITH SENIORITY OF 8 YEARS:

Haryana sportspersons bringing laurels to the State by winning Gold Medals in Olympics will now be entitled for appointment to Haryana Civil Services (HCS) or Haryana Police Services (HPS) with seniority of eight years. The new policy aims at promoting competitive sports in the State and to provide secure employment to outstanding sportspersons from the State at the end of their useful supporting lives. The sportspersons of para, blind, deaf and special Olympic Sports will also be entitled for government jobs.   

Detailing about the Policy, the Sports and Youth Affairs Minister, Mr Anil Vij said that the initial appointments, whether in HCS or HPS or any other Group A, B or C posts will be with “Sports” in parenthesis that would be dropped upon successful completion of the prescribed training and courses in the probation period.

JOB ENTITLEMENT FOR WINNERS OF INDIVIDUAL EVENTS

Mr Vij said that similarly, the Olympics silver medal winner will be entitled for appointment to HCS or HPS with four years seniority, the bronze medal winner for HCS or HPS, participants of quarter finals or above to Group A post and participants of below quarter final level in Olympics to Group B post.

He said that the gold, silver and bronze medal winner of 4-year world Championship (restricted to Olympic Games) will be entitled for appointment to HCS or HPS (with four years seniority), HCS or HPS and Group A (other than HCS or HPS), respectively. Similarly, the participants in the quarter finals or above and below quarter final level of this world championship will be entitled for Group A and Group B posts respectively.He said that the winners of gold, silver and bronze medal in Asian Games would be entitled to HCS or HPS, Group A (other than HCS or HPS) and Group B posts respectively. The participants of quarter finals or above will be entitled for Group C post.

The Minister said that the winners of gold, silver and bronze medal in Commonwealth Games or Other World or International Championship (restricted to Olympic Games) would be entitled to Group A (other than HCS or HPS), Group B and Group C posts respectively. He said that the winners of gold medal in World/International Championship (non-Olympic Games) would be entitled for Group B posts. The silver and bronze medal winners of this tournament would be entitled for Group C posts. 

World University Games (restricted to Olympic Games) winners of gold medalwould be entitled for Group A (other than HCS or HPS) posts. The silver and bronze medal winners of this tournament would be entitled for Group B post. The participants of quarter finals or above will be entitled for Group C post. World University Games (non-Olympic Games) winners of gold medal would be entitled for Group B posts. The silver and bronze medal winners of this tournament would be entitled for Group C posts.

Other Asian/Commonwealth Championship (restricted to Olympic Games) winners of gold medal would be entitled for Group B post. The silver and bronze medal winners of this tournament would be entitled for Group C posts. He said that Other Asian/Commonwealth Championship (non-Olympic Games) winners of gold medal would be entitled for Group C post. 
 
ENTITLEMENT FOR WINNERS OF TEAM EVENTS, HAVING FIVE OR MORE PLAYERS

The medal winners of team events, having five or more players, will also be entitled for appointment in various levels of government jobs.  In this category, the gold medal winner in Olympics would be entitled for HCS or HPS, the silver medal winner for Group A (other than HCS or HPS) and bronze medal winner for Group B post. The participants of team events played in not less than 50 per cent of Game would also be entitled for jobs. In this category, the participants of quarter finals or above or below quarter final level in Olympics in team events would be entitled for Group C posts. 

The gold, silver and bronze medal winner in team events of 4-year world championship (restricted to Olympic Games) will be entitled for appointment to HCS or HPS, Group A (other than HCS or HPS) and Group B posts, respectively. Similarly, the participants in the quarter finals or above or below quarter final level of this championship will be entitled for Group C posts.

The winners of gold, silver and bronze medal in Commonwealth Games or Other World or International Championship (restricted to Olympic Games) would be entitled to Group A (other than HCS or HPS), Group B and Group C posts respectively. World University Games (restricted to Olympic Games) winners of gold medalwould be entitled for Group A (other than HCS or HPS) post. The silver and bronze medal winners of this tournament would be entitled for Group B and Group C posts respectively.  The participants of team events in this Championship would be entitled for Group C post/ World University Games (non-Olympic Games) winners of gold medal would be entitled for Group B post. The silver and bronze medal winners of this tournament would be entitled for Group C post.

Other Asian/Commonwealth Championship (restricted to Olympic Games) winners of gold medal would be entitled for Group B posts. The silver and bronze medal winners of this tournament would be entitled for Group C posts. He said that Other Asian/Commonwealth Championship (non-Olympic Games) winners of gold medal would be entitled for Group C posts. 

Haryana Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal here last evening approved the entitlement of the medal winners in various championships for appointment. The Cabinet also approved that the number of sanctioned posts would not be an impediment and additional number of sanctioned posts would be created as per requirement. The criteria of the age revised to make it unambiguous.

Land will be provided by the government to the sportsperson, who are eligible for out of turn appointment and has not taken the benefit of appointment, to open a Sports Academy in the game in which the sportsperson has achieved an Olympic medal, provided there is no other world class Sports Academy in that sports discipline in the State. 
 
JOB ENTITLEMENT FOR WINNERS OF EVENTS FOR SPORTSPERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
 
He said that for para, blind, deaf and special Olympic Sports, the appointments will be made against vacancies reserved for persons with disabilities. However, if adequate vacancies in sportspersons quota are not available, the appointment will be made against other vacancies in the appropriate category. The equivalency of Sports tournament in para, blind, deaf and special category sports with open category sports will be determined by the Sports Department.
