MOBILE PHONES RECOVERED FROM CENTRAL JAIL EMPLOYEE IN FEROZEPORE

Ferozepur,In two separate cases, three mobile phones have been recovered from Central Jail in Ferozepur besides some intoxicating material has also been recovered. In first case a constable deputed at Ferozepur Central jail has been booked following the recovery of one mobile phone (Samsung), one packet of tobacco (khaini), one packet of beedi, 132 intoxicating tablets, one charger and two headphones from him. The accused has been identified as Sukhpal Singh. As per the sources, his activities were found suspicious and after the checking all this material was recovered from him. A case under 52-A Prisons Act 1894 and 22/61/85 NDPS Act was registered against the accused at city police station following a complaint lodged by jail authorities (Case number 80 dated 13.04.2018)

In other case, one Samsung phone (with battery and Idea SIM) was recovered from a jail inmate identified as Pawan Kumar son of Kashi Ram during the checking. A case under sections 52-A Prisons Act 1894 was registered against the accused at city police station (Case number 81 dated 13.04.2018)

JAIL INMATE COMMITS SUICIDE

Meanwhile a jail inmate identified as Gurmeet Singh alias Gita son of Thakur Singh allegedly committed suicide in jail premises today. As per the sources, Gurmeet was booked in a theft case on July 2017 and presently he was taking treatment from the de-addiction established inside central jail premises. Today afternoon, when he was alone at de-addiction centre, he committed suicide by hanging himself with ceiling fan. When contacted Baldev Singh Kang, Deputy Superintendent, Central Jail Ferozepur said that the body will be handed over to the family members of Gurmeet after the postmortem. Though, the reason behind his suicide could not be ascertained.
