*Accused smuggled drugs capsules from Afganistan to India in their abdomen **900gms of Heroine & Methaqualone seized

The staff of PS Lajpat Nagar, South-East District has busted an international drugs trafficking racketand attained a major success with the arrest of 02 Afgan nationals involved in  drug peddling  namely AbdulSalam Rehmani, 33 years  and AbdulHakim Junaidi, 33 years. The police team had recovered 60capsules of heroine (weighing 475 gms) & 60capsules of methaqualone drugs (weighing 425 gms) fromthe accused persons.

Mr. Chinmoybiswal, IPS, Dy. Commissioner Of Police, South-East District,Delhi, said,  vigil was kept on the activities of somesuspicious persons by SHO/Lajpat Nagar Insp. Pankaj Malik and he gatheredinformation about them. Information about drugs smuggling was received and thesaid information was further developed. On 11.04.18, on the basis of concreteinformation a team led by Insp. Pankaj Malik comprising of SI Subhash Chand,Ct. Vineet, Ct Vishal and Ct. Shimbhu Dayal was constituted under thesupervision of Sh. Brijinder Singh, ACP/Lajpat Nagar.

The police team laid a trap near Jal Vihar, Lajpat Nagar and at about 01 AM, twomen were seen coming from railway track side. On seeing the police party boththe persons tried to fled away but the police team overpowered and apprehendedthem. Both the persons were identified as (1) Abdul Salam Rehmani and (2) AbdulHakim Junaidi.

From the search of both thepersons 60 capsules wrapped in a toffee like pattern were recovered from thepossession of each accused. On testing the capsules through field testing kitthe recovered drugs were tested as heroine and methaqualone. The weight of theseized heroine drug recovered from 60 capsules which were in possession ofaccused Abdul Salam Rehmani was found to be 475 gms. Drug methaqualone recovered from 60 capsules which were inpossession of accused Abdul Hakim Junaidi was found to be 425 gms. In thisregard, a case vide FIR No. 108/18, u/s 21 NDPS Act was registered at PS LajpatNagar and both the accused persons were arrested and recovered drugs wasseized.   


During interrogation accused Abdul Salam Rehmani disclosed that he worked as a rickshaw puller athis native place and his associate namely Abdul Hakim Junaidi runs a smalldepartmental shop. They both wanted to earn quick money and around 04-05 monthsago they met one Md. Shahi in Afghanistan and he offered them to smuggle drugscapsules from Afghanistan by swallowing them and expel once they reach theirdestination in India. They further disclosed that their handler had assuredthem that these capsules would be wrapped in a multilayer of polythene and would harm them if they consume it. Since, both the accused persons wereeconomically weak and in order to earn quick money they agreed to smuggle the drugs consignment. They both were paid in USD for this consignment. 

Consumed in Afghanistan & Expelled in India

Accused persons procured tourist visa and came to Delhi in January 2018. They stayed in Lajpat Nagar and returned after recce. On 07.04.18, Abdul Salam Rehmani arrived and once he reached Delhi safely on 09.04.18 Abdul Hakim Junaidi also arrived at Delhi. Before departing, they both consumed 60 capsules each wrapped in a multilayer polythene and each capsule contained 7-8 gms of drugs. After safely reaching their destination both the accused expelled the drugs capsules. Both the accused were waiting in Kasturba Nagar for their unknown receiver to collect the consignment from them.  

Police said, 60 capsules containing 475 gms of heroine from the possession of accused Abdul Salam Rehman and 60 capsules containing 425 gms of methaqualonefrom the possession of  accused Abdul Hakim Junaidi.

Police further said, Abdul Salam Rehmani, 33 years R/o Afghanistan is an lliterate man and works as labourer and runs a rickshaw at his native place and co-accused is alsoknown to him as he also lives nearby his house. In order to earn quick money accused agreed to smuggle drugs capsules. Abdul Hakim Junaidi, 33 years R/o Afghanistan also an illiterate man and runs a small departmental shop at his native place. In order to earn quick money accused agreed to smuggle drugs capsules.  

Furtherinvestigation is in progress and Embassy of Afghanistan & FRRO have been informed about arrest of both the accused persons.  

In another case on April 13 SI Manish alongwith staff was present on patrolling duty in the jurisdiction of PS – Gandhi Nagar for prevention of crime. During patrolling, a secret information was received by him that a woman is selling illegal Liquor at street No. 09, Raghubar Pura, Gandhi Nagar. On this information, SI Manish called a lady officer from the Police Station. After that, a raiding party comprising SI Manish Kumar, W/HC Raj Kumari, Ct. Ram Singh was made under the supervision of Insp.  and rushed at that place along with informer. Informer pointed out at a lady who was present there. They apprehended the lady red handed. During the checking, 750 Gms. Ganja & 63 Qtrs of illegal Liquor were found from her possession. In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 101/18 U/s 33 Delhi Excise Act & 20 NDPS was registered at Police Station – Gandhi Nagar. In this connection one woman aged 24 years was arrested and 750 gram ganja, 63 qtrs of liquor recovered from her.
