DELHI POLICE BUSTED GANG OF HIGHWAY ROBBERS , OUR DESPERATE ROBBERS ARRESTED., 36 CASES SOLVED

*LOOTED 38 MOBILES, ONE GOLD RING, SEVEN WALLETS, 08 ATM CARDS, 05 METRO CARDS, 05 WRIST WATCHES, ONE PASSPORT, Rs. 14000/-RECOVERED.*THREE CARS, (HYUNDAI EON, WAGAON R AND TATAINDIGO), TWO KNIVES USED IN CRIME ALSO RECOVERED.

With the arrest of four desperate highway robbers namely 1) Rahul KumarR/o Bhalswa Dairy, Samaypur Badli, Delhi aged 24 years, 2) Birender Pratap R/oHaiderpur, Delhi aged 25 years, 3) Kamlesh Kumar R/o Haiderpur, Delhi aged 28years, and 4) Tinku R/o Haiderpur, Delhiaged 20 years, the staff of Police Station Vasant Kunj North, New Delhi hassolved around 36 cases of highway robberies registered in various policestations and made huge recoveries of looted articles from theirpossession. 

Mr. Milind Mahadeo Dumbere,  IPS, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South West District, Delhi, said on 02-04-2018, one complainant R/o New Delhi reported that he boarded a white coloured wagon R car at about 2.30 amfrom National Highway Mahipalpur, Delhifor Nehru Place, Delhi as passenger.Four persons were already in car including driver. On the way the persons incar asked him to give whatever he was possessing. When he resisted, all thepersons in car beat him and caused him injury with knives and robbed his mobilephone and purse containing Rs.1000/- and then threw him at ridge road, nearDhaula Kuan, Delhi. In this regard, acase vide FIR No. 165/2018 dated 02/04/2018, u/s 394/34 IPC was registered atPS Vasant Kunj North, New Delhi.

On the intervening night of 07-08/04/2018 another incident of Highway robbery wasalso reported wherein an employee of ITC hotel who took lift in a cab from NH 8mahipalpur was also looted of his mobile phone, wrist watch and Cash etc afterbeating him and was thrown near Dhaula Kuan. In this regard, a case vide FIRNo. 170/2018 dated 08/04/2018, u/s 394/34 IPC was registered at PS Vasant KunjNorth, New Delhi.

Apart from this seven other incident of highwayrobbery were reported on NH 8 near Dhaula Kuan where victims were robbed insimilar manner and cases were registered at PS Delhi Cantt. Also many cases ofrobbery with similar modus operandi were reported at Kapashera, Vasant KunjSouth, Airport and Dwarka Etc.

In the past few months there were incidents of robberies on NH-8 from Gurgaon to Dhaula Kuan,Ring Road, Dwarka Express Road where passengers were looted by the car-bornrobbers. In order to arrest them adedicated team of police station staff consisting of Inspector Gagan Bhaskar,SHO/Vasant Kunj North, Inspr. Rajesh Kumar, Inspector investigation, InspectorRajesh Maurya, ATO/VKN SI Kuldeep Singh, SI Manish Yadav, SI Manish Meena, SIShubhendu Sharma, ASI Subhash Tiwari, HC Vikas Kumar, HC Subhash, Ct. Karambir,Ct. Gaurav, Ct. Parmod, Ct. Ranjan, Ct. Kuldeep, Ct. Askaran and others under the close supervision ofACP/Vasant Kunj, Shri KP Kukrety and overall supervision of DCP/South West,Shri Milind Mahadev Dumbere workedrelentlessly to solve the cases.

INVESTIGATION :Considering the sensitivity of the robberyincidents, the team so formed worked day and night and put all out efforts toarrest the robbers. On 14.04.2018, SI Kuldeep Singh received a specificinformation regarding the culprits of above robbery case that the culpritswould visit near Max Hospital, Haider Pur to meet some person for disposal ofthe looted mobile phones and other items.

The raiding party laid a trap nearMax hospital, Haider Pur, Delhi. Atabout 7:15 PM at the instance of secret informer, three youths were apprehendedand a bag containing mobile phones was recovered from their possession. After some enquiries they disclosed theiridentities as 1) Birender Pratap R/o Haiderpur, Delhi aged 25 years, 2) Kamlesh Kumar R/o Haiderpur, Delh iaged 28 years, and 3) Tinku R/o Haiderpur, Delhi aged 20 years. On asking about the recovered mobile phonesnone of them could give reply satisfactorily, hence they were subjected tosustained interrogation. After interrogation all of them confessed their involvementin Highway robberies at Mahipalpur, Kapashera, Delhi Cantt and Dhaula Kuan, NH8, Ring road Dwarka Expressway area. Further interrogation led to arrest of onemore accused namely Rahul Kumar R/o Bhalswa Dairy, Samaypur Badli, Delhi aged24 years, who used to drive the cars. 

INTERROGATION: - During sustained interrogation they confessed their involvement in theseries of Highway robberies at Mahipalpur, Kapashera, Delhi Cantt and DhaulaKuan, NH 8, Ring road Dwarka Expressway. They used to drive cabs on variousroutes of Delhi Gurgaon and specially Gurgaon to Dhaula Kuan. During theirtravelling, they found a number of commuters at NH 8 waiting for vehicles atKapashera, mahipalpur chowk Dhaula Kuan Etc. They observed that due to nonavailability of sufficient public transport during night time, commuters tooklifts in shared cabs to save some money. Being alone at night, they found them as a weak target for robbery hencethey formed a gang and from several months started looting commuters.

MODUS OPERANDI: The accused used to assemble at Haidarpur at around 9 PM. One of the accused would bringvehicle and all of them switch off their mobile phone and reach NH 8. They used to pick their target who was waiting alone at Kapashera Border, Mahipalpur orat Dhaula Kuan. They would give lift to the victim agreeing to drop him at hisdestination. They would make their victim sit between the two of the accused onthe rear seat and after reaching near any dark patch they forcibly looted thevictim by showing and injuring with knife. After looting the victim, they usedto throw him at some dark stretches.

Police recovered 38 Mobile phones,  7Purses, Gold ring,  8 ATM Cards,  5metro cards, 5wrist watches,  One passport, two knives used in crime,  3 Cars used in crime a Wagon R, Eon and Indigo and Rs14000/- Cash

Police said Rahul Kumar R/o Bhalswa Dairy, Samaypur Badli, Delhi aged 24years, permanent resident of Kanpur U.P. He worked as a cab driver. He is a School dropout and came in contact with other co accused and started committingrobberies with commuters waiting for cabs during night time.

Birender Pratap R/o Haiderpur, Delhi aged 25 years, permanent resident of Jaunpur. He works as temporary labour in a rubber factory at Haidarpur. He came in contact with other co accused and started committingrobberies with commuters waiting for cabs during night time.

Kamlesh Kumar R/o Haiderpur,Delhi aged 28 years, permanent resident of Jaunpur. He works as temporarylabour in a rubber factory at Haidarpur. He came in contact with other coaccused and started committing robberies with commuters waiting for cabs duringnight time.

Tinku R/o Haiderpur, Delhi aged20 years permanent resident of Azamgarh U.P. He worked as a cab driver. He is aSchool dropout and came in contact with other co accused and started committingrobberies with commuters waiting for cabs during night time.

With their arrest 36 Cases of South West District, Dwarka District, West Districthave been solved and further investigation is going on.
