CBI COURT AWARDED TWO YEARS RIGOROUS IIMPRISONMENT TO SI SANJIV KUMAR AND BUSINESSMAN IN BRIBERY CASE

The Special court of CBI awarded rigorous imprisonment of two years to one Sub Inspector of Chandigarh police  Sanjiv Kumar Sharma and  Jeweller Subhash Kataria to two Years of  jail  in 10 year old bribery case on  Thursday.

The Specail court of CBi convicted Sub  Inspector of Chandigarh police Sanjiv Kumar Sharma under section 7, read with section 13 (2) (1) of Prevention of Corruption Act and section 120 B of IPC whereas Subhash kataria was held guilty under section 8 of Prevention of Corruption Act and section 120 B of IPC

The court however acquitted third accused Sub Inspector Ramesh Chand in this case for the want of the evidence against him. Interestingly the complainant  had laid trap in this matter and CBI caught the two convict for accepting bribe of Rs 50,000.

The matter started with complaint by Arvind Pandey, husband of the owner of a disputed booth in sector 17  alleging that BUSINESMAN Kataria and Sub Inspector  Kumar had been demanding Rs 50,000 from them to settle the property issue. Subhash Kataria, was then the representative of traders at the Sector 17 market. SI Sanjiv Kumar Sharma was also a recipient of president’s medal
