  • Revision of voter lists from May 15

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr. S. Karuna Raju has appealed to all the political parties of the state to cooperate in the revision process of photo electoral rolls, which will commence from 15th May, 2018.

A meeting of representatives of all the political parties of the state for the revision of voter lists was convened in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab here today, which was attended by the representatives of the Congress, SAD, Bahujan Samaj Party and Indian Communist Party.

Addressing the meeting, Dr. Raju said that the door-to-door revision of the electoral rolls will be done by BLO’s from 15th May to 20th June, 2018, while the polling stations and buildings will be inspected from 21st June to 31st July, 2018. Besides this, the information regarding printing of electoral rolls and new voters & booths will be updated from 1st to 31stAugust 2018.

He further said that electoral rolls would be published up till 1st September, 2018 and claims and objections regarding the electoral rolls could be submitted from 1st September to 31st October 2018. The rectification of objections and claims will be done by 30th November, 2018 and on the revised electoral rolls will be printed up till 4th January, 2019.

CEO appealed to all the representatives of the political parties to inspire and persuade the youth above the age of 18 years to register themselves in the electoral rolls. The political parties’ representative demanded that a lesson regarding the importance of the votes will be incorporated in the school education for the next generation and assured full cooperation for the revision process.
