11.5 KG HEROIN WORTH RS. 57.5 CRORE RECOVERED IN FEROZEPORE SECTOR

In another major success against drug cartel, the STF-BSF carried out a joint operation yesterday late evening and recovered 7 packets of heroin weighing 10.5 Kg from an area close to International border. Earlier, the sleuths belonging to STF had recovered 1 Kg heroin from two accused identified as Jarnail Singh (55) son of Banta Singh, resident of Village Jaimal Wala in Ferozepur district and Sukhwinder Singh alias Pappu (48) son of Jit Singh, resident of Village Dhall in Tarn Taran district besides a mobile phone with Pakistani SIM was also recovered from them.

Giving details Balkar Singh, IG STF, Bathinda and B S Rajpurohit, DIG BSF Ferozepur sector while addressing a press conference at sector headquarter in Ferozepur said that following the inputs, the two accused were nabbed by the STF sleuths near village Mabbo Ke while they were travelling on a bike (Number PB 05 S 3742). “The STF sleuths recovered 1 kg heroin and mobile phone with Pakistani SIM following which a case was registered against these accused under NDPS Act at STF Police station in Mohali. During the interrogation, they confessed that recently they had brought a huge consignment which was buried in the fields of farmer Surjit Singh of village Kishor Singh Ke Jhugge in Mamdot Block. The STF team contacted senior officials from the BSF following which a search operation was carried out near BOP Gatti Hayat during which 10.5 Kg heroin worth Rs. 52.5 Crore in the international market was recovered”, said IG Balkar Singh.

The IG said that the accused Jarnail Singh is already booked in half a dozen cases under NDPS act at various police stations. “The other accused Sukhwinder alias Pappu was also under NDPS Act at Khuiya Sarvar police station in Fazlika district following a recovery of 6 Kg heroin. Later he was convicted for ten years imprisonment. He had come out of jail two years ago on bail”, said IG STF Bathinda.

The STF officials said that the role of farmer Surjit Singh from whom field’s the consignment was recovered, will also be scanned.

DIG Rajpurohit said that this year BSF has recovered 127.400 Kg heroin this years in Ferozepur sector. On this occasion other senior officials from BSF and STF including DCG BSF S.N. Dubey and AIG STF (Ludhiana Ferozepur Range) Snehdeep Sharma were also present.
