500 STUDENTS FROM St. STEPHENS SCHOOL INTERACT ON SOLAR ENERGY

PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry along with Chandigarh Renewable Energy and Science & Technology (CREST) of UT Administration today organized an Awareness Session on Solar Energy at St. Stephens School, Sector 45, Chandigarh. The session was attended by over 500 senior students of the school. The session highlighted various forms of Renewable energy and importance of usage of solar energy.

 Mr. Louis Lopez, Principal, St. Stephens School, opened the interaction by highlighting the growing need of solar energy with the changing environment and climate change. He remarked that “In order to preserve nature and safeguard energy for future generations it is imperative that we change with time and start the use of solar energy”
Mr. Ujjawal Kumar, Project Manager, CREST highlighted upon the mandate of solar panel installment on roof tops by Chandigarh administration. He requested all students to ask their parents to install solar at their residential areas as a small step to preserve energy & nature.

Mr. Simarpreet Singh, Chairman – PHD Chamber Regional Committee on Power & Renewable Energy remarked that “PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry is actively spreading the message of use of solar energy among the citizens of Chandigarh. Today was the fifth awareness session of solar energy and the Chamber has so far spread awareness in
major corporate houses and academic institutes to make Chandigarh, a solar city” The students showing interest on solar energy discussed on how to install solar plant at their premises, difference between net metering & gross metering amongst others.
