SODHI HANDS OVER EX-GRATIA AMOUNT TO THE FAMILY MEMBERS OF THE DECEASED WHO WERE BURIED ALIVE

Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister today handed over the ex-gratia amount to the family members of three deceased who were buried inside a “khuhi” (sandpit) when the earth surrounding it, caved in at Guruharsahai last week.

While attending the Bhog ceremony of deceased Harjit Singh of Village Shrihwala, Sanjiv Kumar and Simarjit Singh of Village Alike Jhugge Sodhi said that the loss of a member of a family is indeed very painful and he understands that the family members of the deceased must be going through a tough time. He promised to the family members deceased that the state government is with them during this difficult phase of their life.

Sodhi along with his supporters prayed for the departed souls and handed over the cheque of Rs. One Lakh to the family members of deceased.

Sodhi also met Lakhwinder Singh and Lakhan Singh, both residents of Village Jhoke Mohre, who got injured during this incident. The injured were also given an amount of Rs. 50,000 each.

It is pertinent to mention here that three persons were buried alive while two others were injured when the earth around a “katcha” well caved in on them. The incident took place at Village Sharihwala on May 20.

On this occasion Anumit Singh Sodhi, Youth Congress leader, Charandip Singh, SDM Guruharsahai, Gurdip Dhillon, Ravi Sharma, President Aadhtiya Association, Amritpal Singh and others were present.
