INDIAN TRICOLOUR AT IPL 500 FESTIVAL PARADE

Indiana's 51st Governor, Eric Holcomb, Mayor Joe Hogsett, former Mayor Greg Ballard and Indianapolis Motor Speedway president Doug Boles participated in the Festival Parade. They all acknowledged the greets of the people.

The Theme of the Indy Festival Parade was Illuminate. Innovate. Indianapolis. The IPL 500 Festival Parade is one of the nation’s largest, most respected parades. Indianapolis Power and Light Company, American Legion, Anthem Parade, Winners Drink Mill, Children Museum of Indianapolis were some of the important floats.

Indians, now settled in USA, also formed part of the IPL 500 Festival Parade. Indian-Americans carried the Indian Tricolour. Sikh community were represented by world famous artist-cum-community and interfaith leader Kanwal Prakash Singh, who is living in Indianapolis for 50 years, Sikhs Political Acation Committee founder chairman Gurinder Singh Khalsa and Baljit Oberio. Raju Chinthala, Venkata Nagest Tankikoda, Ravi Sajja and  Dolly Trehan were among the Indian-Americans settled here took part in the Parade.

This year’s IPL 500 Festival Parade featured new sections along the route to help enhance and enrich the experience for spectators and visitors. Sections 23 through 26 served as bilingual sections, delivering the public address and Parade presentation in both English and Spanish. Sections 29 through 34 served as Value Sections for families and large groups to utilize the best pricing options along the route.

Founded in 1957, The 500 Festival is a not-for-profit organization that produces life-enriching events and programs that celebrate the spirit and legacy of the Indianapolis 500 and foster a positive impact on the city of Indianapolis and state of Indiana.

According to official information, one of the largest festivals in the nation, each year more than half a million people attend an event or program produced by the 500 Festival. Since its founding, the 500 Festival has contributed more than $400 million in economic value to Indianapolis.
