CBI BOOKED DIRECTOR OF BENGALURU BASED AIRLINES,GROUP CEO OF MALAYSIA BASED AIR GROUP & OTHERS AND CONDUCTS SEARCHES

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)  has registered a case U/s 120-B of IPC r/w sections 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (d) of the P. C. Act, 1988 against Director of Private Airlines Limited, Bengaluru (Karnataka); Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) of  Air Asia Tony Fernandes , Malaysia; Dy. GCEO of Private Air, Berhad, Malaysia; Director of a Private Company, Singapore; Chairman of a Private Company, Worli Point, Mumbai; Principal & Founder of Consulting Company, New Delhi; said three private companies of Singapore, Bengaluru & Malaysia and other unknown public servants of Ministry of Civil Aviation & the then FIPB (Govt of India), New Delhi and private persons.

It was alleged that unknown public servants & others entered into a conspiracy with the Director of Private Airlines Ltd, Bengaluru; Group Chief Executive Officer of said Malaysia Group; Dy. GCEO of said company; Director of a Private Company and other accused persons with intent to help Private Airlines (India) Ltd. to expedite the approval process and change in aviation policies to suit the company. It was further alleged that FIPB and FDI norms were violated by said Air Group by giving effective management control to a foreign entity by making the said Private Airlines (India) Ltd. a de-facto subsidiary indirectly rather than a joint venture. It was also alleged that the said company of Bengaluru had used several persons at the instance of said Group Controller in lobbying with the unknown officials of Ministry of Civil Aviation for said company to get favorable orders. It was further alleged that they were paid amount which was utilised for paying bribe to unknown public servants and others for securing permit for operation of international scheduled air transport services. An effort was allegedly made in the Ministry of Civil Aviation to remove/amend the 5/20 rule.Searches were conducted today at 05 places in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore which led to recovery of certain documents.Investigation is continuing.
