HARYANA POLICE SEIZED 860 BOXES OF ILLICIT LIQUOR FROM LPG TANKER ON NATIONAL HIGHWAY

Haryana Police has seized 860 boxes of illicit liquor worth lakh of rupees from a Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker on National Highway-71 in district Rewari which was being transported to Gujarat. This is the second big seizure of illicit liquor by the police team of Rewari in last 10 days.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that Crime Investigation Agency-2 of Rewari, acting on a tip-off about the consignment of illicit liquor, started chasing the tanker coming to Rewari side on NH-71. Giving a chase to the police, driver turned towards Jhajjar side. Police team has intercepted the vehicle near Khuddan more of Jhajjar, but both the driver and helper left the tanker and managed to escape.

When searched, police team found a consignment of 22,640 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), country made liquor and beer concealed inside the tanker.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police, Rewari, Mr Rajesh Duggal said that this is the second consignment of illicit liquor seized by district police in last 10 days.Earlier, we have seized 576 boxes of illicit liquor on Delhi-Jaipur highway. He said that following the instructions of Director General of Police, anybody involved in smuggling of illicit liquor and other criminal activities would not be spared. Further investigation was in progress and efforts were on to arrest the accused involved in this case, he added.
