Under its robust countrywide Brand Building Campaign, the Punjab Government established Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) opened its Counselling and Admission Centre (CAC) at Guwahati, which was inaugurated by Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi at an impressive function held at Maniram Dewan Trade Centre.

Similar centres were also opened in North East states like Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya Manipur, Mizoram, Sikkim, Tripura, besides Bihar, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir and main cities of neighbouring Nepal to help the students of far flung areas in realizing their dreams in quality higher education at premier institutions in Punjab. The CAC and other such centres are aimed to bring best talent to produce technically skilled manpower with an integrated and technology oriented education to serve the needs of the industry and society.

An impressive function marked the ceremony, which was attended by various NGO’s, educationists, Chairmen/Directors of more than 75 affiliated Institutions, senior officials and dignitaries from all walks of life.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi said, “We need environment friendly cutting edge technologies for bolstering our development”. He said, “In India, we have witnessed the marvels of the discoveries of science and technology in the development of the nation. The Green Revolution, for example, resulted in enhanced agricultural productivity. We need engineering and management capabilities, robust mechanisms for collaborations with other institutions to propel technology driven development in the country as we expand our infrastructure,”. He hoped that MRSPTU, which is a university of repute, would take the lead in promoting the use of science and technology for national development.

Referring to the famous seats of higher learning of ancient India like Nalanda, Takshashila, Vikramashila that dominated the world in higher education, Prof. Mukhi called upon the academia in the country to take responsibility in reviving the ancient academic excellence in India. He also urged the teaching fraternity in universities and the policy planners to create quality infrastructure in higher education to avert the increasing trends of brain drain in the country.

Prominent among those who attended the Guwahati function include Punjab Technical Education and Industrial Training, Deputy Director, Dr. Damandeep Kaur (PCS), MRSPTU, Registrar, Dr. Jasbir Singh Hundal, Dean Academic, Dr. Gursharan Singh, College Development Council, Director, Mr. A.K.Goel, Dr. R.K. Bansal, Dr. Savina Bansal, Finance Officer, Mr. Subhash Bansal, Dr. Balwinder Singh Sidhu, Mr. Harjinder Sidhu, Dr. Jasbir Singh Tiwana, Punjab Unaided Technical Institutions Association (PUTIA-MRSPTU), Convener, Mr. Devinder Pal Singh, Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal (Baba Farid group of Institutions), Gurtej Singh Brar (Aklia Group of Institutes), Dr. R.K. Goyal (Asra Group of Institutions ), Lakhvir Singh Gill (North-West Group of Moga) and Vickey Singhal (Arya Bhatta Group of Institutions Barnala) among others.

MRSPTU, constituent colleges and private colleges affiliated with the University jointly launched coordinated effort to achieve success through Academic Excellence, Pioneering Research and Innovation Driven Development and pledged to make Higher Technical Education accessible and affordable to all.

Meanwhile at a meeting held here on Thursday, while lauding the efforts, Punjab Unaided technical Intuitions Association (PUTIA-MRSPTU), the Chairmen and Directors of 75 Technical Education Institutions under University territorial ambit have pledged to provide all support to the prestigious University for quality education.


Under its robust International Exchange programmes for the bright future of the younger generation of the state, the Punjab Government established Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU)’s high level delegation under Vice Chancellor, Dr. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar is on 10 day Canada tour to visit Thompson Rivers University (TRU) for credit transfer study paving the way for opening doors wide open for the brilliant students aspiring to undertake study abroad. The delegation will also visit prominent Educational Institutions to identify the potential areas of mutual collaboration in the more identified domains like Academic Excellence, Research & Development etc., which will strengthen the relationship between the two countries.
