HARYANA POLICE CRACK DOWN ON SMUGGLERS, 150 BOXES OF BEER, 17 KG DODA POST, HALF KG HEROIN RECOVERED

Haryana Police have seized 80 boxes of illegal Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and 150 boxes of Beer bottles from a Tata 407 vehicle bearing Rajasthan registration number in Rewari district and arrested one person in this connection.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said that a police team booked the driver with illegal liquor after getting secret information about transportation of this liquor. The accused has been identified as Vikram a resident of village Turkiawas in Ateli police station area. On being interrogated, the accused revealed that he was transporting the liquor from Rewari to village Rata Mollahada. A case under Excise Act had been registered against him and further investigation was being carried out.

DGP Mr. B.S. Sandhu appreciated the efforts of STF for launching a crackdown on drug peddlers. He said that Police would not allow spread of drug menace in the state and stern action would be taken against those who are involved or supporting such practices. He also urged the people to come forward fearlessly and share the information against the sale, consumption and use of narcotics in the state. The war against drugs could be won with the active support and cooperation of people, he added.

Appreciating the efforts being made by district police, Director General of Police, Mr B.S. Sandhu said that all Superintendents of Police have been directed to launch a major crackdown on drug peddlers and other illegal activities in their respective areas. Regular raids were being conducted on suspected locations by the police.

In yet another crackdown on drug peddlers under operation ‘Prabal Prahar’, Haryana Police today arrested two persons after 17 kg doda post and 5.5 gram heroin was recovered from them in district Sirsa. 

The accused have been identified as Gurjit Singh, a resident of Kariwala and Subham of Mandi Dabwali in Sirsa district. While Gurjit Singh was nabbed with 17 kg doda post from Kariwala area, other accused Shubham was arrested by crime investigation agency on the charges of possessing 5.5 gram heroin grain market, Kabir chowk, Mandi Dabwali area. 

He said that after enquiring about the name of supplier, a case under NDPS Act has been registered against the accused, besides two others. All accused would be taken on remand by producing them in the court. Stern action would be taken after identifying the other persons involved in the racket of drug smuggling and efforts were being made to nab them, he added.m It may be mentioned here that a crackdown was launched against smuggling of narcotics in the district, especially in the areas bordering Rajasthan and Punjab under operation ‘Prabal Prahar’.

In yet another crackdown on drug peddling, Special Task Force (STF) of Haryana Police have seized 490 gram heroin valued around Rs 1.5 crore in international market from near Gohana in Sonipat. Two people have also been arrested in this connection.

While stating this here today, a spokesman of Police Department said arrested accused have been identified as Rajender and Sahab Singh, both resident of village Rasida in Jind district. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they used to bring heroin from their accomplice Raju, who resides near Nizamudin railway station in Delhi and supply it in Gohana, Jind, Narwana and Patran, Khannori in Punjab. Accused Rajender was arrested earlier also under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

He said that a team of STF received a tip-off that two persons riding on motorcycle bearing Punjab registration number were carrying heroin and would pass through Khandrai mor in Gohana. Acting swiftly, STF team immediately put a trap and nabbed both the accused with 490 gram heroin.

He said that a case under NDPS Act has been registered against both accused and police is investigating the source of drug suppliers. Both have been taken on five day police remand so that involvement of others in drug peddling could be unearthed.

Meanwhile, Director General of Police, Mr. B.S. Sandhu appreciated the efforts of STF for launching a crackdown on drug peddlers. He said that Police would not allow spread of drug menace in the state and stern action would be taken against those who are involved or supporting such practices. He also urged the people to come forward fearlessly and share the information against the sale, consumption and use of narcotics in the state. The war against drugs could be won with the active support and cooperation of people, he added.
