Various link roads were disrupted and vehicular movements on three national highways paralysed after heavy showers lashed several districts of Himachal including Mandi, Bilaspur, Kulu, Lahul and Spiti, during last two days.

According to sources, the continuous downpour snapped power supply, telecommunications and water supply in the region.

People on the river banks are collecting timber from the river risking their lives despite warning on mike to keep away from the river.

The high altitude peaks like Dehnansar, Prashar valley, Kamroo Nag, Shikiari Devi, Goghar Dar and Karsog valley had heavy snowfall on Sunday night. The flights from Bhuntar have also been cancelled due to rain and heavy fog,

According to the weather forecast the prevailing weather conditions are likely to continue up to the end of the month. The snowy weather conditions in the high altitude vales of Mandi and Kulu districts is attracting huge rush of tourists from the towns of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan and Delhi. Hotels of Mandi, Kulu and Manali are packed.

Huge loss has reportedly been caused to the standing ripe maize crops in the districts of Kangra, Hamirpur, Bilaspur and Mandi. The members of Parliament Shanta Kumar, Anurag Thakur and Ram Swarup Sharma have requested the union Health Minister, J.P. Nadda, to send central teams to assess the loss caused to the agriculture and horticulture crops in the state.

A major tragedy was averted last week a two hundred meter high hill slid on the hill near Pungh on Sundernagar Slappar portion of the BSNL . In that event dozens of villages would have been swept with the hevy gush of Beas water.
