CSIR FOUNDATION DAY: YOUNG STUDENTS TO BE AWARE OF RESEARCH WORK

As a part of India International Science Festival (IISF), CSIO in Chandigarh celebrated CSIR foundation day by observing an Out Reach programme for young students to make them aware of the research work being carried out here.

IISF is a celebration to promote Science and Technology and demonstrate how science could lead India towards a developed nation within a short span of time.

More than 1500 students from various colleges and schools from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh visited the laboratories and interacted with the scientists actively involved in technology development for agriculture, healthcare and defence sector under “Make in India” and “Innovate in India” scheme of GoI. The students were also shown a movie describing the technologies being developed in CSIO and a on the spot quiz was organised in which various questions were asked about current science topics.

 
 
The aim is to engage public with science and celebrate the joy of science and show the ways how science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) provide us with the solutions to improve our lives. Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Earth Sciences in association with Vijnana Bharati (VIBHA), has created a unique platform of India International Science Festival which intends to inspire curiosity and make learning more rewarding.

More than 1500 students from various colleges and schools from Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh visited the laboratories and interacted with the scientists actively involved in technology development for agriculture, healthcare and defence sector under “Make in India” and “Innovate in India” scheme of GoI. The students were also shown a movie describing the technologies being developed in CSIO and a on the spot quiz was organised in which various questions were asked about current science topics.

The students were of all age groups starting from very young school students to those now pursuing engineering degrees. Small experiments were set up in the laboratories where the students were shown working projects. The scientists encouraged the students to ask questions and satisfied all their queries. Before leaving the students were also given refreshments.
